Description

5-bay 3.5″/2.5″ SATA expansion

Add 5 drive bays to a Synology DiskStation¹ easily. Supporting both 2.5″ and 3.5″ SATA drives, the DX517 is a flexible solution for expanding volumes without shutting down, or for use as a local backup destination

Online volume expansion

When managed through DiskStation Manager on the host NAS, the extra bays in the DX517 are available as soon as it is connected. Expanding volumes without shutting down ensures that storage and services on the host are not interrupted during expansion

Hot-swappable drive tray design

The DX517’s hot-swappable drive trays make it easy to install and replace drives without shutting down. The tool-less tray design reduces installation time

Dedicated local backup solution

You can use the Synology DX517 as a dedicated local backup solution for a Synology DiskStation. Configured as a separate volume, the DX517 serves as an excellent backup for the internal hard drives in case of system failure
